warning msg on CLI

L1 Bithead
Hi,

While logged into the CLI on our PAN-OS, received the following error messages:

2016-07-20 12:17:16.783 +1000 Warning:  pan_hash_init(pan_hash.c:112): nbuckets 100 is not power of 2!
2016-07-20 12:17:16.783 +1000 Warning:  pan_hash_init(pan_hash.c:112): nbuckets 100 is not power of 2!

Just wondering if these are anything to be concerned about?

Hi fmustafa,

Are you running 7.1.x ?

Are you seeing this warning after typing a specific command ?

for example :

admin@PA-3050(active)> show system statistics session
2016-04-25 17:55:18.365 -0700 Warning: pan_hash_init(pan_hash.c:112): nbuckets
100 is not power of 2!
2016-04-25 17:55:18.365 -0700 Warning: pan_hash_init(pan_hash.c:112): nbuckets
100 is not power of 2!
admin@PA-3050(active)>

Aside from the above I've also seen the same warning message in logs when there were HA sync issues and/or boot-loops.  In those cases you should see other logs on your device that could give you more information (ms.log, devsrv.log, ha_agent.log, system logs in the GUI).  Either way I'd recommend to check with support so they can confirm exactly what's triggering this issue.

Cheers,

-Kim.

Hi,

Just wanted to provide an update on the msg: nbuckets 100 is not power of 2!

I have notified TAC Support and they informed this fix for this cosmetic issue will be incorporated in the 8.0 version.

Thanks.

Farzana

I have this issue on 9.1.14-h2
