Printer Friendly Page

This error is usually seen when the GlobalProtect client is upgraded or GlobalProtect is not installed correctly.

Please follow these steps.

  • Disable WMI services : run - services.msc - Windows Management Instrumentation(WMI) - stop the service.
  • Delete the files under C:\Windows\System32\wbem\Repository
  • Open regedit
    Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software and HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software.
Delete the Palo Alto Networks folder.
  • Delete the same if the same folder is present in any other user under HKEY_USERS.
  • Un-install GlobalProtect from Windows 'program and features'.
  • Make sure that the virtual adapter in not present in the Network adapter settings.
  • Reboot the machine.
  • Reinstall GlobalProtect with admin privileges.
  • Confirm that WMI service is running.

This should resolve the issue.

 Hi Editeur ,

The above mentioned steps is not working for me , I am on Window 10 version Build 1703

Suggest if anything else can be tried .

Thank You

Hi @Ganesh_Vmware

This should be pretty much open and shut, if these steps don't work for you, you may need to try re-downloading the installer package or consider using a newer version of GP if one is available

Hi reaper ,

Thank you for your response , we have tried that as well of getting the latest GP software , but fails with same message.

Hi @Ganesh_Vmware in that case i'd reach out to support, as this seems very peculiar

What would be a reason that the virtual adapter is not being made/installed? Some security I activated and forgot? (the only adapters the system shows are the kernel debug and the physical adapter).
