Environment


  • Palo Alto Firewall.
  • PAN-OS 8.1 and above.
  • SSH.


Resolution


The commands "ssh host ip-address" and "ssh host username@ip-address" are used to SSH to another device.
In the  example below, by default, the username used to SSH into the Palo Alto Networks firewall the CLI can be used when trying to SSH into another device.

Example1: Using the CLI command   ">ssh host ip-address". This will use the same username logged in the Firewall to SSH  into another device:


 

 

Example2: Using the CLI command   ">ssh host username@ip-address". This will use the username on the CLI command to SSH  into another device:
 

After following the above command "ssh host username@ip-address" and entering the credentials, the user is now is logged in with a different username rather the default admin username. This command will allow the users to login to any devices with different usernames, other than admin.
