PA-500 Alarm LED on Initial Power UP
Resolution
The internal battery of the firewall is used to keep track of date and time while the firewall is powered off. If a unit is left unplugged for a long period of time, the battery might drain completely before the unit is powered up for the first time, resulting in an alarm.
It is not necessary to RMA the unit if this issue occurs, but it is recommend to use NTP to automatically set the date and time on the firewall.
To configure NTP:
- Go to the device tab > Setup > Edit.
- Configure an FTP server.
- Commit changes.
To view the current battery state:
> show system state filter env.*
env.s0.power.7: { 'alarm': True, 'avg': 0.703, 'desc': 3.0V RTC Battery, 'hyst':
0.100, 'max': 3.500, 'min': 1.500, 'samples': [ 0.703, 0.703, 0.703, ], }
In this case here, the battery has 0.703 volts left which is below the alarm threshold of 1.5v.
