Panorama Error: vsys -> vsys2 'vsys2' is invalid. Not licensed for vsys id 2""

Symptom

When pushing a template from Panorama to a non-multivsys device, the following error appears:

vsys -> vsys2 'vsys2' is invalid. Not licensed for vsys id 2

Cause

A display name has been set on the firewall, which changes the display name of the default 'vsys1'. When the template is processed, the 'vsys1' of the template does not match the 'vsys1' on the firewall, and the firewall will attempt to create 'vsys2'.

Solution

Remove the display name from the target firewall. This can be done from the CLI with the following commands.

> configure

# delete display-name

# commit

# exit

Note: The display name is separate from the host name. Removing the display name has no impact on the host name of the system.
