TFTP Upgrade Instructions

1. Connect a console cable to the PA device. Use either Hyperterm, Putty, SecureCRT or Teraterm (9600,8,n,1). Power up the PA device.
2. Login using the default admin credentials. Enter the configure mode by typing configure, at the # prompt set the device IP, netmask, gateway, and DNS primary server and internal update server.

   Use the following CLI commands:

   1. Set device IP, netmask, and gateway

      # set deviceconfig system ip-address netmask default-gateway

   2. Commit changes:

      # commit

   3. Exit out of the configure mode.
3. Import the PAN-OS to the device:

   > tftp import software file PANOS_4000-x.x.x from <IP of tftp server> <enter>

   1. Install the new PAN-OS:

      > request system software upgrade-to file PANOS_4000-x.x.x

   2. Verify install is complete:

      > show jobs processed (verify that install has completed with a fin).

   3. Reboot device.
4. After the device is back online, login via console and verify that the upgrade and AutoCom was successful.
   1. Verify the PAN-OS version:

      > show system info

       

      The output will be similar to the following:
