Unable to Add an IPv6 Sub-interface as a Forwarding Interface in IPv6 Static Routes

Resolution


Issue

While configuring an IPv6 static route by using a Layer3 sub-interface configured for IPv6 results in the following error:

> routing-table > ipv6 > static-route > <static_route_name> > interface 'ethernet1/x.y' 
is not a valid reference > routing-table > ipv6 > static-route >
<static_route_name> > interface is invalid

Details

Navigate to Device > Virtual Routers > VR > Static Routes > IPv6, add a IPv6 static route by choosing the forwarding interface as an IPv6 sub-interface as shown below. In this example, eth1/9.10 is configured as a sub-interface:

After clicking OK, an 'Operation Failed' error message appears as shown below:

Resolution

Ensure that the sub-interface configured for IPv6 has the option "Enable IPv6 on the interface" checked as shown below:
