MineMeld Service's Not starting after installation

L1 Bithead

Hello Discussion Board,

I am installing MineMeld in ESX 6.

VM was built with trusty-server-cloudimg-amd64.ova and has minemeld-cloud-init-0.9.10-1build1.iso connected to the CD/DVD drive.

Every time I reboot the server minemeld does not start and the system says there are 2 available packages that can be updated.

I added a screenshot of the screen to the post.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi @Scott_Fitzmaurice,

the update message is owned by Ubuntu (not MineMeld). Are you sure MineMeld services are not running? (check Step 6 at https://live.paloaltonetworks.com/t5/MineMeld-Articles/Manually-install-MineMeld-on-Ubuntu-Server-14...)

If that's the case then the minemeld-engine.log (typically available at /opt/minemeld/log) could have an answer. Would you share its content here for us to give it a try?

Xavi

Thank you for the quick response.

I ran the first command and this is the out put:

sudo: unknown user: minemeld

sudo: unalbe to initialize policy plugin

There is nothing in my opt folder.

Looks like the cloud-init.iso didn't work at all and no MineMeld components where installed. You might be in front of a plain Ubuntu image, might you?

If that's the case, then you can try to follow the instructions at https://live.paloaltonetworks.com/t5/MineMeld-Articles/Manually-install-MineMeld-on-Ubuntu-Server-14... starting at the Step 3
