What is the long term plan for MineMeld

L0 Member

This project seems to be a very capable platform and I'm considering incorporating this into our environment. However, I have concerns about viability of this as a long term supported solution. Does this community provide any executive summery type documentation for management level with regards to what's supported by palo alto and what's community supported.

@bryanjorg,

I'm not sure there is really any available documentation like that. MineMeld is a Palo Alto tool at this point, while you can certaintly contribute to the project Palo Alto at this point 'owns' the project so to speak but has chosen to go the open-source route.

MineMeld at this point is a fairly stable project and even if it stopped being 'supported' and actively developed MineMeld does what it's supposed to. Essentially even if they were to never publish another update it would still be a highly usable tool in it's current state. It's kind of like Putty at this point.

This might be something that you can show your management to get it approved.

That page isn't resolving Luigi. 🙂

Hi @bryanjorg, MineMeld is very important to Palo Alto Networks. It is currently available as either a free open source tool available to the community, or a hosted service operated by Palo Alto Networks as part of AutoFocus. In the future, we plan to make it available as part of the Application Framework. You can learn more at the Application Framework website here, on the MineMeld website here, through some technical documentation about AutoFocus-Hosted MineMeld here, and/or on the wiki here.
