Paloalto customers already use their support account for the log in to this community and also recently the new cloud identity feature was added to cortex. Are there plans to support logins for customers to the support portal, cortex and also the live community with federated logins via azure ad, okta, ...?

@reaper and @jdelio what about if you two continue as hosts for the learning happy hour? Or is this format still existing (as there are not very often new videos)?

How do I run weekly statistics reports on how many questions were posted to the Beta program, how many were answered, and present it to the Product Team?

Hi @spoluektov! Feel free to send us an email: community@paloaltonetworks.com and we can share those metrics with you.

@Remo that's a great idea 🙂

Does the Live Community team plan to collaborate with contributors across PANW and re-post articles relevant to customers from other forums like the one linked here to ensure customers are getting real-time updates regarding product information, etc?: https://www.paloaltonetworks.com/blog/security-operations/

We work with teams across Palo Alto Networks to communicate important information that our community members should know of which is usually shared in our general blog area. You can also visit our technology product pages where you can find specific information pertaining to that product.

As the Content Management Specialist, I am always interested in gathering input and feedback from our community members on what they would like to see more of!  You can always reach out to us in the community feedback area as we love to hear from our members.

Why does the "send message" button not work in this live community forum?  As in, I am unable to direct message a person listed in a post.

This is a great question. The new Messaging option is NEW to the LIVEcommunity, but the problem is that both the sender and receiver need to enable this option in order to send messages, as it is NOT enabled by default.

To enable this option, please go into your UserID > My Settings

And inside there go to Preferences > Private Messenger

And then be sure to enable “Turn on private messages” and then Save.

Can you share the best way to do a search in LIVEcommunity to find what I am looking for?

Thanks for the question, my answer is going to be brief, as there are many ways to search through the LIVEcommunity, but I will say that start with the top search window, which allows you to search and see search results through the entire LIVEcommunity, TechDocs and KB.

If you are in a specific area, you can search just that area for information using the drop down option to select:

  • All Community
  • This Category
  • Knowledge Base
  • Users

  1. What's your favorite new feature that was added to LIVEcommunity with the latest updates?

That's a great question and a few of us on the team wanted to share our thoughts!

On the main page we now have featured posts and trending conversations - @jdelio

I particularly like the brand new icons in the discussions area (PAN approved / Community Expert Verified).  It adds additional authority to a provided solution and provides confidence for readers. - @kiwi

My favorite feature is the new look and feel of the LIVEcommunity itself. I also like how on the main page our community stats are upfront and center. - @jqualls

I like the ability to Subscribe and get email notifications to areas that are important to me. You can subscribe to most locations in LIVEcommunity such as discussions and events! You can even subscribe to a specific post or topic. - @crasmussen

I like the trending conversations which is a new rotating area on the homepage. It’s great to be able to see all the popular conversations happening across the community in real time.  - @agalindo

Have you noticed the new Leaderboards? At a glance you can see the top Solution Authors, Top Contributors and see which members are receiving the most Likes. This is such a great way to engage and connect with experts that are providing great guidance and answers to common questions.   - @jforsythe

  2. If you had to give someone an elevator pitch on why they should be engaged in the LIVEcommunity forums, what would it be?

The LIVEcommunity forums are a great place to meet with other experts.  It’s a great resource to find answers to your questions, or help others by answering their questions and feel good about yourself in doing so! It’s also a good way to stay up-to-date on the latest and greatest updates, features, events, etc.

I have some ideas for how to's and configurationadvises. Is this something for this community and if yes, where and how should I submit them?

Absolutely, we’d love to hear your ideas for useful and helpful resources. Please visit the community feedback area and share your ideas with us. We’d love to partner with you in sharing ideas and best practices.

Are there all / a lot of paloalto employees involved in this community (as I saw usernames of some of them when using the @ to mark someone) or do they just get a username here without using / participating in this community?

Thanks for inquiring on the level of engagement from our employees. 🙂  Palo Alto Network Employees are very active and participate in the community.

@reaper wrote:

Are there plans for more statistics/gamification? I'd like to see leaderboard per quarter/year/all time and maybe some new ranks 🙂 (prestige mode?)

Hi there!

As part of the recent community updates, the leaderboard area is now more prominent across LIVEcommunity. For example, on the homepage you can see Top Solution Authors, Top Liked Authors and Top Contributors. You can select “view all” to see an expanded leaderboard view with time ranges.

And yes! We do have plans to revamp and update ranking and badges across the community.  Thanks for asking and stay tuned!
