Adding a device to log-collector and content update schedule via api

L0 Member

Hi,

I am trying to find a way to add a newly deployed PAN-VM to an existing log-collector-group and content update schedule in Panorama.

Looking at the API reference, I can see we can update contents but couldn't find any for adding it to schedule?

Also didn't find any log collector reference.

I am using pan-os-python.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Hello @MirzaWaqas, most of our customer would utilise bootstrapping to achieve this:

  • When creating a new VM-Series, you could use bootstrapping to assign a Log Collector groups with cgname in the init-cfg.txt/userdata depending on the public/private cloud you are deploying into (https://docs.paloaltonetworks.com/vm-series/10-1/vm-series-deployment/bootstrap-the-vm-series-firewa...).
  • In the same way, bootstrapping can assign the VM-Series to a template stack with tplname in the init-cfg.txt/userdata, and then VM-Series would then inherit any content update schedules configured within the template stack.

I hope this helps.
