Software-NGFW-as-Code: Automating Deployment Pipelines for VM-series and CN-Series in Public Cloud

A key advantage to utilizing a public Cloud Services Provider (such as GCP, Azure or AWS) for application deployments is that just about everything can be automated! While "artisanal crafted cloud" is fine for organizations in small batches, most cloud infrastructure deployments can benefit from some level of Infrastructure as Code (IaC). IaC can enable an organization to tightly control how cloud infrastructure components are deployed, who has access to deploy them, and guarantee the configuration state of those components. Palo Alto Networks VM-Series is the most effective way to secure traditional applications in the public cloud and CN-Series can provide the same protections for containerized workloads.

The same cloud-native tooling and concepts used for the rest of your cloud and Kubernetes infrastructure can also be used to orchestrate these software NGFW deployments. In this talk, we'll go over how Infrastructure as Code and Deployment Pipelines work in the context of a real deployment of VM-Series and CN-Series as code! We'll cover the following tools and platforms: Palo Alto Networks VM-Series | Terraform | Terraform Cloud | Github and Github Actions | Kubernetes | Helm Charts | Palo Alto Networks CN-Series and the speakers include:

  • Torsten Stern, Global Solutions Architect, Palo Alto Networks
  • Sean Youngberg, Global Solutions Architect - Cloud & Containers, Palo Alto Networks
  • John Moser, Practice Lead, AE Business Solutions
