In normal situations it will be your IT department or the firewall admin that will provide you the GlobalProtect version you will need to use to connect to your company's gateway.

This can be done in several ways. Group Policy installation is likely one of the most popular scenario how the software will be distributed to the end users. Refer to the article at https://docs.microsoft.com/en-US/troubleshoot/windows-server/group-policy/use-group-policy-to-instal... for more information on how to use Group Policy.

If IT does not control the hardware of the remote users, then a GP version can be provided directly via the GP portal. Once the user connects to the GP portal and authenticates, he/she will be presented with several download options out of which he/she will have to select the correct version depending on the hardware being used. An example of the GP portal page is displayed below:

Note: This can potentially put extra load on your portal!

There are other ways for deployment depending on the different platforms you're using (Linux, Chromebooks, iOS, Android, etc).  Please refer to the article at https://docs.paloaltonetworks.com/globalprotect/10-0/globalprotect-admin/globalprotect-apps/deploy-t... to find out more information on the different deployment methods used for the GlobalProtect App.

Alternatively, if the user has access to the GCS Portal he/she can download and install any version of GlobalProtect that's available on the portal. All you have to do is login to the support portal: https://support.paloaltonetworks.com/

Once you're logged in, navigate to Updates > Software Updates and select the correct filter using the drop-down menu, as illustrated below:

In doing so, you will be presented with all the available software versions of the filter you've selected. As you can see in the screenshot below, all versions come with release notes that I strongly suggest you read before trying any version, because they contain information regarding known and fixed issues :

Hello , please invest more in GP client development and testing .
As minimum GP should detect window 7 and block further installation neither then crash all vpn communication .
Server side options should be improved as well , for example be able to control minimum version or possible version depends on windows 7 / windows 10 .

Thank you for your comments.

We take this very seriously, and we will try to make sure your feedback gets back to our developers.

As far as the issues you are facing, have you spoken with support or participated in the discussion areas about this?

I am attempting to download an older Global Protect version (4.1.11) for some testing through this portal.  It seems that anything older than 5.1.0 (Windows x64) has a broken link and does not start a download.  I tried on a few different devices and browsers but was still unable to download anything beyond that point.   The PDF links work fine, but the .msi links do not.  Can anyone point me in the right direction?
