VM offering - is there an increase in # of sessions handled?

Twitter Q10.

@PaloAltoNtwks #AskPANW with the improvement in the VM offerings, was there an increase in # of sessions handled as well? and what is it?

Palo Alto Networks Guru

All VM models are getting a big jump in session capacity along with performance in PAN-OS 8.0. We are scaling the session capacity to 10M sessions for the highest end VM-700 while the existing VM models will gain 2.5x-5x boost in session capacity. Specifically this means VM-100 will now have 250K sessions (from 50K pre PAN-OS 8.0) and VM-300 will support 800K sessions (from 250K pre PAN-OS 8.0). Its also imporant to note that there are many other system capacities (like route table, number of policies etc) that are scaling as well to ensure we are able to address the use cases that need the performance. Awesome, thank you very much.  Looks like we will be updating our VM os very shortly. We have been beta testing the PAN 8 and love it so far. Nice work folks.
