while importing .ova file getting invalid image error

Hello Team,

I am trying to upgrade my test environment, current running version is PAN-VM-ESX-9.0.4 and I am trying to upgrade it with PAN-VM-ESX-9.0.9 but after importing image at last it is showing invalid image error. can some one help me here.

you don't need to import an OVA to upgrade your VM, you can go to Device > software and upload/download/install the latest version

that said, PAN-OS 9.0 went End of Life back in march 2022, so you should look into upgrading to 10.2

Hello Reaper,

Thank you so much for your response but I do not have internet connectivity to directly upgrade it also I don't have license that is why I am planning to upgrade it via offline and most important thing here is I need to do automation of this upgradation task, that's why I need to upgrade this firewall via CLI only.

you can download the panos files to a local system and then "download" them to the VM via 

> scp import software from user@host:/path/

you can then install it without internet access and you can even script it 😄

why are you importing a log file? 🙂

you need to go to the CSP (support.paloaltonetworks.com) and download the desired maintenance release file and any base images you need, and then upload them (one by one, import, install, reboot, import, install, reboot, ...) to the firewall with that scp import command 🙂
