Issue upgrading 8.1.x VW interfaces

L4 Transporter

Hi,

I wanted to comment an upgrade issue that its making me crazy. We have a cluster A/P in 8.0.8, these devices are in diferents datacenter. We have tried to upgrade this cluster 2 times with no success. We upgrade the passive unit to 8.1.10 and everything is ok, but when we do the failover in order to put the upgrade node as active, all the VirtualWires interfaces are not working. We have 2 LACPs in VW in this PAlo Alto. So when the node is active in 8.1.10 the 4 VirtualWires interface stio working. Interfaces look UP. But we dont see any traffic.

Any known issue with 8.1.x and VirtualWire issue? any advice or action plan. We opened a TAC case but not a great help 😞

I searched internally for issues with 8.1.x and VirtualWire in an HA config, and I was able to find 2 issues with an HA config, but it only listed Active/Active configs, and not A/P config. And those issues were cleared up with 8.1.10.

Sometimes the having the other member of an HA pair in a different data center can cause issues.. not sure if that is the direct issue, as this is not showing up in my searches.

As long as you are downloading 8.1.0 base first, and then downloading 8.1.10 (or 8.1.11 or 8.1.12 are now available) then the upgrades should be OK, but the upgrade is not the issue, it is getting that traffic after you upgrade..

You are always trying to upgrade the Primary member first?
