PAN-Perl and Certificates

L0 Member

This seems like it should be an FAQ or documented, but ...

Our Firewall (an Active-Active pair of PA-5050s with PANOS 6.1.1) have the default Palo Alto issued Web GUI certificates.

Any attempt to use PAN::XAPI results in:

Can't show config: LWP::UserAgent: 500 Can't connect to firewall:443 (certificate verify failed)

Despite all attempts to turn off certificate verification.

I decided to create a self signed certificate with the correct subject/hostname for the WebGUI which is now in use.

However, still can't connect using API.

I can use wget because I can say "--no-check-certificate", which does not verify the cert against the installed CAs.

Am I correct in thinking that I need an externally signed certificate for the XML API so that it will pass all the verifications?
