Recommended ways to manage numerous firewall policies

L1 Bithead

For people who have many firewalls which have similar policy, what are good ways to manage these, say for example I want to add a particular rule from one zone to another, and the zones are identical across 80 firewalls.

Am looking at using Device Group hierarchy but not sure of pitfalls or traps to avoid here.

If you have Panorama, then you should see the ease in having a single appliance that can create policies across the network.
I would suggest you look at the Beacon site (beacon.paloaltonetworks.com) and look at their EDU-120 or Managing Firewalls at Scale, to understand Device Groups, to understand their nature.

Any other question we can answer for you?

Cheers Steve, ended up using variables, templates, and device groups.
