Replacing fan tray in PA-500

L1 Bithead

Hi all,

Apologies, I am new to the PA forum, first time poster here. I have a job coming up to replace a fan tray in a PA-500. I tried to find some documentation since I have not carried out this type of work before but I can't see to find any. Are fans/fan trays in the PA-500 hot swap-able? Is there a document on how to replace the fan trays and fans?

Thanks in advance.

Hi @jjmagee97 ,

Not sure if instructions will be included when new parts are shipped.

The hardware reference manual from the pa-500 doesn't provide instructions to replace the fans as far as I can see (which I do see in the pa-5000 series).

That said ... replacing a fan can't be that hard ... right ? Open box, replace bits, close box 😄

Might want to check with TAC if they add instructions when they ship replacement parts ... I did see that the PA-500 is End-of-Sale ... are you sure replacement parts are still available ?

Cheers !

 Hi @jjmagee97 ,

They are not hot-swapable.

You'll need to schedule a maintenance window to shut down the firewall and replace the fans.

Part is already on site, but yes I agree i'm sure it's not rocket science 🙂

Thanks for your help.

Can you please share the website link where i can find the Fan of PA-500.

Unfortunately, I am not able to find the same. I have PA-500 but it is making lot of noise.
