Unable to Login After Factory Reset

L3 Networker

Hello Community,

I have just carried out a factory reset. However, now I'm not able login with the admin-admin login/password.

I'm presented with the prompt:

PA-HDF login

I read I should wait for the prompt:

PA-500 login:

However, the PA keeps on rebooting into PA-HDF login: and the admin/admin login password won't work.

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Regards

Carlton

Hi,

Can you please provide an error message why it is rebooting?

As you got a VM please make sure that all your interfaces are in "vmxnet3" mode

Cheers

Hi, thanks for getting back to me.

I can now access the PA-VM (I just needed to be patient). However, I can't access the PA-VM via web ui. I can ping it and I have configured the management inferface but I can't access via web ui.

Can you help?

Hi,

Thanks again for responding.

I followed the guide here,

https://live.paloaltonetworks.com/t5/Configuration-Articles/How-to-Configure-the-Management-Interfac...

But it didn't specify using HTTPS. I thought PA-VM used HTTPS by default

Hi,

Correct. But it will not redirect you if you will use http

Hi,

So, I've activated https, but still can'e access the PA-VM via web ui

I issued the command 'set deviceconfig systems service disable-https no'

But still no luck

hi hi,

Can you SSH to the box?

If yes please sent an output of the following command:

show system resources

Cheers

Hi

I can't even SSH to it. I'm accessing the PA via vmware console. There are lots of lines from the command show system resources..

Is there anything in particular that you need to see?

Cheers

But I can ping the PA... very strange that I can't web to it or SSH

It's still the same with factory resets to this day. They really need to add some verbiage in the factory reset documentation about having to wait so long for the PA-HDF situation and the initial log in to work right. I was certain there was something corrupted on the firewall.

My Status LED was also amber for a long time as well. Maybe it was coincidence, but it changed to green after I changed the admin password (which you get forced to do now in CLI, before you can log on).
