2.1 Management and Logging Infrastructure

 

This activity results in configuration of Management and Logging Infrastructure prior to the start of any production activities. Based on Palo Alto Networks Best Practices and HLD/TDD documentation, activity tasks include:

 

  • Adherence to official best practices by going through a standard checklist 
  • Configuration of disk quotas/retention period for each type of log
  • Configuration of the appropriate destination servers (SMTP, SYSLOG, SNMP Traps)
  • Configuration of log forwarding profiles
  • Configuration of all security rules and zones with logging enabled and log forwarding profile attached
  • Application of the proper Security Profile Group to all security rules
  • Configuration of system events logging and alerting

 

Deliverables: 

  •   Panorama Management Checklist
  •   Panorama-specific addendum to the As-Built  document
  •   Management console checklist includes  justification for each “non-compliant” control
