Just experienced this today after having setup DNS proxy on 8.1.1 in my home network. If you enable TCP queries on your DNS proxy setup Netflix works as normal (at least it did for me with my Apple TV).

Which hypervisor is it? I know there is a lack of bandwidth monitoring on the interfaces in Hyper-V. This is apparently a Microsoft issue according to PAN. This is the reply we got some while ago (still on 7.1): "The reason why the interface statistics is 0 is that the Linux ethernet driver for Hyper-V in the LIS doesn't support device statistics like other platforms do."

Hi, We are running a number of virtual firewalls on VMware and according to the documentation you are required to add a new hard drive when upgrading to version 8. Moving from 40 GB to 60 GB. The upgrade itself goes smoothly and the firewall is running 8.0.7 without any trouble. However, when trying to add a new hard drive the trouble starts. My path: - Power off the VM - Add new hard drive (60 GB) - Power on the VM Now I would expect to be able to login through the console with my admin user and run the command request system clone-system-disk target sdb But I am unable to login at all. The firewall management interface replies to ping and SSH, but no web GUI. And no matter how long I wait for the firewall I am unable to login t\with my admin user (or any other user). Am I doing something wrong? I have tried on two different VMs now with the same result. As soon as I power off the VM and remove the ned hard drive everything works again. Any tips?

Hi, The query you are performing is to look at which rules have been used on the firewall since last reboot, not to query for the rules configured. I use this function to look for unused rules on our firewalls. To get the rules for a firewall in Panorama I have used the following xpath: ?type=op&cmd=<show><config><running><xpath>devices/entry/device-group/entry[@name="DEVICEGROUP"]/post-rulebase/security</xpath></running></config></show> Of course, adjust the post/pre-rulebase and security/nat as you see fit. Hi, I have looked into those resources and while educational they don't really cover very specific issues within each hypervisor. Maybe a KB article listing the differences between the hypervisors? If a company has the option to use different hypervisors it would be nice to make an educated decision. We experience that you can't get SNMP bandwidth information on Hyper-V, but it works on VMware. And the we know there are differences in throughput, but it's not documentated anywhere on Live (as I've found).

I echo a few others here about the Panorama path and using it for everything. It took us a while until we understood and decided this to be the way to go, and then it was a bit of work importing firewalls already in production etc to get it all synced. Other things: When using VMs, add all interfaces in case you need more after putting the FW into production. You can't add interfaces and get it to work 'live' Also when using VMs (at least now with PAN-OS 😎 add enough resources to account for any license upgrades from the start. This way there is no need to power it off to add more resources. Using one device group for multiple same-purpose firewalls. This has simplified at least one deployment for me. And now we are always sure the policies are the same between the locations.

PAN released App and threat version 692 in the end of April covering MS017-010 with default action alert. Today's release changes default action to reset-both. In both releases the vulnerability has severity critical.

Hi, You are advised not to block access to that domain. As read on the blog you linked to: " The above subroutine attempts an HTTP GET to this domain, and if it fails, continues to carry out the infection. However if it succeeds, the subroutine exits." So if you block it the HTTP GET fails and the ransomware executes...

Hi, In the feature comparison tool by Palo Alto the throughput on the VM-series firewalls is followed by an asteriks refering to environment specific datasheets. However, I was not able to find anything about the performance on Hyper-V. Is there any place where the throughput is compared between the different hypervisors? I know there are differences between VMWare and Hyper-V for instance, but it would be very useful with a simple matrix showing the different hypervisors and throughput.
