That seems a bit silly, if application filters are a potential problem omitting them is the only answer? I have quite a few application filters setup and they work very well and I like the flexbility of them.. I have had the process committing for up to 15 mins worse case, but the management CPU does get a bit high at times. We use a PA500 and each iteration of s/w has made the commit process get longer, I know the commit process is complicated that I accept but taking a longtime can be a pain.. Darren

Hi, got to agree, each interation of s/w update has made the front end slower and slower. Shame as its the only downside to a great product. Think they should spend time on tweaking the front end in future releases. Darren

Hi, not sure if its me, but the new interface seems very slow compared to the previous version and if I am honest I dont think some of the interface changes are for the better... But its definately slower to complete tasks under 4.0.1 than 3.1.7 Just my thoughts... Darren

Hi, we upgraded to 3.1.7 on Monday, afterwhich our iphones and android devices failed to get through, it appeared they didn't even close as there was no evidence on the logs. Today I rolled back to 3.1.6 and the captive portal worked again. Anyone else had this, anyone aware of a bug or a change in how CP works? thanks Darren

Hi, I use gmail.com and me.com for email. when I used the web interface, no problem at all. But when I use my Mac (OS X 10.6.6) Mail client 4.4, however I for some reason or another the client cannot access these two email accounts it just times out. They are both configured for SSL using 993 so nothing unusual here. The PA is configured to allow imap and ssl but still nothing. There is something blocking the connection, but when I monitor the details I just get the occasional 'incomplete' message. Any advice, tips? Thanks Darren

Today, all of a sudden (3.1.6) users are hitting the not-resolved url issue, then these sites were working perfectly yesterday. I am not sure if I should raise a ticket for this or not? Wondering if its brightcloud or palo? Thx Darren

Ok I think I need to clarify a little... The students have found that using sites like https://proximize.me they can go to sites that are normally banned either by URL or APP. Sadly the BrightCloud URL filter is less than perfect so the students do find proxy sites dagibbs stated that if I look at the logs I will Protocol as SSL this is not correct. I have been to this proximize site and browsed around the internet, OK all be it slowly..but it still bypass all application and url filtering not good. All I see is the protocol TCP (if I am not mistaken the protocol is either TCP or UDP) and application ssl. So essentially the PA see's their traffic as SSL nothing more than that. See the PA.jpg below, this is me browsing through the proxy, as you can see web-browsing and SSL are the only ones present, I think the web-browsing is my other browser window open which is normal internet. So even if I selected 'encrypted-tunnel' it wouldn't make any difference what so ever as the PA is only seeing SSL traffic, its not seeing anything else. Presently the only way to stop this type of browsing is to block SSL which of course has other implications... Thoughts?

Problem is... in doing that they cannot go to legit SSL sites, essentially if I block SSL they cannot use https-proxy but if I do that they cannot use their webmail or SSL encrypted sites... Interesting one this.. It might be just beyond the powers of this wonderful product. I wonder if I have found something it cannot actually do, I'd be amazed if that was the case. Darren
