I'm looking at the release notes for the Global Protect client for Windows and Macs, now at 5.0.1 Am I missing something ? What is the reason for the 5.0 client? I don't see that there are any new features, or changes in behavior. Or is it simply that 4.1 is at the end of maint ? Greg

My topology is pretty simple. Core L3 switch with a half dozen vlans. There is no requirement for isolation. In fact I'm trying to figure out how this could work. Part of what we are doing is connecting to the MS public PAS services such as Data Warehouse. Using route filters we only get routing to the East Central region public addresses via the BGP session with Azure. Since the BGP router has those routes, how would a workstation connected to the other VR know how to get to the Data Warehouse in East Central using the Express Route circuit. There is no requirement for a separate VR other than consulant speak saying that's the way to do it.

I'm currently using rip in a single virtual router. I'm adding BGP for a Microsoft Express Route circuit. I have a consultant to assist in the BGP setup. He says the BGP needs to be in a separate virtual router. Is there a reason for this that anyone knows ? His answer is PaloAlto requires it. ??? PA3020. TIA, Greg

I'm configuring BGP for an ExpressRoute link using CenturyLink manage service. This is for Microsoft Public Peering. I'm not seeing any routes. Guessing I need an import rule. At this point I want all routes sent by Azure and not filter anything. How much of the Match can I leave blank? Can I leave the Address Prefix and Next Hop blank and only have From Peer ? Or can it all be blank. Can I just have Allow for the Action with everything else left blank ? TIA, Greg Fuchs

Case 00662008 My opinion is that they are also adept at working the ticketing system. The SLA is that they will "respond" in 4 hours, so they put a comment in that meets that requirement. Followed by making other comments after my stated hours, such as "when can we call you?" , also resetting the reponse clock. Update: Two more days in the life of case 662008. Nothing other than yet another "Will call tomorrow" update on Thursday, thus resetting the response clock. Brings to mind parts of songs. "The sound of silence", or to paraphrase Anne "I'll call you tomorrow". Thinking of starting a new thread titled "Tell us about your favorite support case". Update 5/16 Two more days in the life of case 662008 with no response.

So am I the lucky one to have what should have been a simple upgrade brick the firewall? Was running 7.1.7, normal download and install 8.0.2 Firewall came up with the yellow status light. Was able at that point to login to gui. Found this little darling message in the system log: System messages: 'data_plane: Depend script failed max times' See dataplane is restarting message 'pktproc_n_log: Traceback (most recent call last):. File /usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/masterd/mdBase.py, line 1902, in do. do_func(). File /usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/masterd/mdBase.py, line 2046, in start_event. self.process_inuse(). File /usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/masterd/mdBase.py, line 870, in process_inuse. core_pattern= self.pansys.dosys(\'/sbin/sysctl -n kernel.core_pattern\', shell=True)[1][0].rstrip(\'\n\').IndexError: list index out of range' ) With help from support the system went from bad to worse, ended up in a continuous reboot loop.
