Please take a look at these labs: http://api-lab.paloaltonetworks.com/pan-python.html Just started using the python scripts and REST API, but seems promising to create scripts for the daily checks. Disregard -- found the answer here: http://api-lab.paloaltonetworks.com/pan-python.html It's nice to pull the stats directly from the firewalls and use API reference calls. If you have any best practice or tips using Python scripts -- please let me know. Thanks.

Not sure if this makes sense -- plan to use Palo Alto's REST APIs for automated script tasks and health checks. Is there a way to save the key into a variable string -- therefore you can make multiple API calls and reference to the output key? Want to automate some of the daily health checks (HA status, available free space logs, critical event errors, etc.) If you have any best practice or have developed scripts already for automating the FW/Panorama tasks, that's greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Clyde, Check if the Panorama Collector Groups setting is properly configured. Panorama -> Collector Groups -> Device Log Forwarding -> Log Forwarding Preferences Please click add and select the LC -- if you don't see anything configured there. Hope that works for you.

To read & modify the XML file -- use Notepad++. This will allow you to easily navigate the configurations and make change updates. See if that helps for you. Another useful command from the CLI is "set cli config-output-format set", if you're use to the normal line-by-line text format.
