As the title my question in my mind is relatively straight forward.. when a globalprotect client sucesffuly makes a vpn connection... is there any local profile settings saved to a file on the pc / mac? If so, where are these logs saved / folder path? On Macos... On Windows...

This is the million dollar question... how does one check this? RDP traffic on port 3389 is allowed within the company.... but whats messing with my head is how to check if our domain / WAN will allow traffic to GlobalProtect connected clients... Is there anyway to quickly check?

As the title, is this physically possible? Long story short, have a requirement to connect remotely to a company users laptop, which is connected to GlobalProtect VPN... via remote desktop from another pc on the same companys LAN Have attempted to connect from a pc on the company LAN to a user working from home who is connected to GlobalProtect VPN to no avail As far as the users setup is conerned, port forwarding is configured to forward incoming RDP connections to there fixed IP laptop. Can remote into the laptop from the same network, so know that it can physically except RDP connections but fail when connecting from a company LAN to vpn connected laptop Can someone advise a) If this is possible? b) If so, how to configure to allow said connection?

Its been some time since I posted this issue, and several version of the gp client later... still the same problem Anyone else up for a stab at troubleshooting authentication timeouts? We have an internal yammer discussion thread on this very issue, and frequently get people complaining about this Usual generic troubleshooting tips we offer are... *Disconnect and re-connect several times, to try and coax this connection * Refresh the connection (option in the settings) * Select different gateway (Capita TCP / Capita THN) * Try changing settings between gp.capita.co.uk gp-a.capita.co.uk gp-b.capita.co.uk * Try changing your laptops DNS settings (last resort this) Some common ones are GOOGLE 8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4 or a less known DNS 1.1.1.1 Try a newer version of the global protect client

UPDATE: We installed GlobalProtect64-4.1.4 on the Windows 7 machines, and the OKTA issue was no more! It does raise more questions than it answers though... * Could a firewall or server change have caused this? * Why weren't macos or Win10 clients effected?

The company I worked for observed an unusual error today with just Windows 7 users of GlobalProtect Windows 10 & Macos users were unaffected. We use okta verification to allow authentication btw In a nutshell, did some testing in virtual machines running latest patched version of Windows 7 and Windows 10 All windows clients were able to connect, all windows 7 clients got... An error occured in the secure channel. error message Both machines were running 64bit client GlobalProtect64-4.1.2 Have tried older clients on both os's and always the same... win10 connect, win7 does not Thoughts?

Another troubleshooting observation to add to the mix, is that a first time connection seems to be more viable when for example connected to a public wif For example here in the uk we have public offerings such as https://service.thecloud.net/service-platform Again when connected to these, more often that not, a VPN connection via the GlobalProtect client is usually connected within a few seconds after OKTA mfa has taken place. Have also observed similar reliabilty when connected to a Mobile Phone tethered connection. Discussions concerning the client version aside, this raises an interesting point, that WIFI / Network config to have some bearing on again the reliabilty of a first time connection...

The company I work for recently roled out paloalto vpn service for users to connect via VPN However one frustration most if not all users have observed is the initial connection via GlobalProtect client. Across all client versions and all OS's (Windows, MacOs) one thing which is causing frustration has been observed. * Instigating the connection from the client, a push notification is sent to Okta Verify running on a phone * The connection is accepted from the phone and the GlobalProtect client then begins to connect * More often than not, the connecting window will sit there and eventually time out without a sucesfful connection * Hitting disconnect and re-connect several times eventually allows a sucesfull connection Again this issue is prevelent across all OS platforms. so troubleshooting on local machines is somewhat mute Does anyone have any troubleshooting tips? From the client side, this happens across the latest and older client versions

Currently have 4.0.6 I dont agree with the philisophy of not having the client available to download though. Granted for the average user, they will utilzie what they are provided with, however I personally get involved in testing within my role and would much prefer to be able to download direc ly from paloalto as apposed to going cap in hand to admins.... to test myself, possible bugs n all But hey, it is what it is

I find not being able to download the latest client very frustrating. I work from home several days a week and the company I work for, has just switched to globalprotect for their vpn requirements.
However on my companies client download page...
https://mycompany.domain/global-protect/getsoftwarepage.esp
...they dont have the latest client available
https://live.paloaltonetworks.com/t5/Management-Articles/Software-Release-Notices-GlobalProtect-Agp ent/ta-p/61019
Is there any way an end user such as myself can obtain the latest version of the client, without having to jump through hoops?
