- We have been having issues with VPN tunnels freezing between PA's on different sites; since PANOS8.x when a failover is done in an active - passive configuration. Current workaround is to enable tunnel monitoring with failover action. This was not needed in PANOS 7.x, for these kind of situations. the failover works for all the rest of ongoing traffic towards the Internet, only the ipsec tunnel hangs, is this tunnel monitoring a REQUIRED setting in PANOS 8.x; or should it not failover stateless , as all the rest does ? M.

PA5020/PAN-OS 7.1.10 I am trying to develop a NAGIOS check to get an alert , when a vpn tunnel between PA's at different locations is down. So far I have been looking at the ifup-status of the corresponding tunnel interface at the local firewall. It turns out that this is still up , even if the vpn tunnel is down. From the local firewall, this can be argumentable and I can except. Are there any other SNMP variables in the Palo Alto SNMP MIBS to check and use in order to verify the status of a vpn tunnel between 2 PA's ?

PanOS 7.1.10 I am looking into how to obtain the status of the power supplies using snmp; most info's obtained via google point to snmp trap oid's for power supply failures. That's not exactly what I want; I want to be able to monitor the status of the power supplies using an snmp query (too). Is this also possible ? M.

You can walk the ENTITY-SENSOR-MIB at the firewall look for the entPhySensorOperStatus values; compare the result with a walk for the variable entPhySensorType; the ones resulting in rpm will be a FAN; hence the corresponding entPhySensorOperStatus variables will give their status. M.

- I can plot data from physical interfaces (from the PA) in MRTG, such as for instance data from Eth1/1 and Eth1/2. But MRTG's cfgmaker doesn't get any info about tunnel interfaces . Could this be made possible, for instance by adapting some changes in the firewall. If so, which one(s) ? M.
