Hello there,

Every week we try to review discussions that continue to come up, especially if there wasn't a definitive answer.

This week I would like to take time to talk about an issue that can occur with GlobalProtect after upgrading to MacOS Catalina.

User Wahaha posted a question about: Global Protect and MacOS Catalina issue

Inside of this discussion, there is a screenshot of what is happening when GlobalProtect is used after the upgrade.

The issue started because the user upgraded to MacOS Catalina 10.15.5 and, after the upgrade, the current version of GlobalProtect would no longer run or connect to the gateway.

Basically the error states that the software cannot be executed, and that an upgrade is required.

Why did that happen?

There were changes that happened in MacOS on how the extensions are used by the system and kernel, and thus a GP upgrade is required.

How to resolve it?

The quickest way to resolve this issue is to upgrade GlobalProtect on the client machine.

You normally can do this by browsing to your company's local Portal page, which should be the same URL where you use GP to connect to your company. Once logged in, you should see options to download the latest version of GP.

Starting with GlobalProtect version 5.0.4, 5.1.3 and 5.2.0, this will resolve the issue, but it is always recommended to upgrade to the latest version.
