Hello there,

One question we are often asked is "What version of Prisma SD-WAN Element Software do you recommend?"  Unsurprisingly, this question also comes up on a regular basis as a LIVEcommunity discussion.

Luckily, the answer is now easy to find.  Palo Alto Networks has posted a Prisma SD-WAN Element Software Release Guidance article located in LIVEcommunity's Customer Resources area.

In the article you will see 3 release series are highlighted based on your specific deployment requirements.  Review these guidelines and the associated release notes to determine what is the best fit for your needs. In the article, you'll also find links to the latest Security Advisories.

If you are asking yourself, "Why should I upgrade?", there are many reasons but below are some benefits to consider.

Benefits of using the recommended software release includes:

  • Bug Fixes: Software updates address bugs and glitches present in previous versions, improving the overall stability and performance of the device.
  • New Features: New features and functionalities are often introduced in software updates that enhance the capabilities of your platform. These features may provide access to new features that are not available on older releases
  • Security Updates: New software releases may include security patches and updates to protect devices from the latest vulnerabilities and threats. Staying up-to-date helps ensure that your system is less susceptible.
  • Support: Ensure supportability of devices in the case of a network outage or other issue raised to customer support

The Prisma SD-WAN Element Software Release Guidance  article is constantly updated with every new revision. It lists out all of the currently supported versions, Release Dates, and pointers to Release Notes.

Once you have decided to upgrade, here are a few quick links on how to do that.
