Palo Alto Admin password reset in AWS

L0 Member

Hi There,

If you encounter issues with forgotten admin or user passwords and are unable to log in to the firewall, you can access the firewall EC2 instance using the instance key pair and reset the admin password from there. There's no requirement to enter maintenance mode or perform a factory reset on the firewall.

  • Enter the following command to log in to the firewall:
    ssh-i
    <private_key.pem>
    admin@
    <ip_address>
  • Configure a new password, using the following command and follow the onscreen prompts:
    configure
    set mgt-config users admin password

Thanks!

Thanks for sharing @anuragk ! Logging in via private key comes in handy.
