When will the Legacy URL Filtering license be transitioned to the A-URL license?

L1 Bithead

Hi

There have been a lot of recent changes in Palo Alto, so I'm currently reviewing and organizing the data.

Please refer to the link below to check the timing of license transition from TP to A-TP, DNS to A-DNS, and WF to A-WF.

However, despite searching most of the documentation, I cannot find anything that states when URL Filtering will be EoS and when only A-URL licenses will be sold.

If anyone has any information about this, please reply.

Based on the information available, the transition for URL Filtering has already largely occurred: the Legacy URL Filtering (PAN-DB) license has been discontinued as a standalone subscription. While official End-of-Sale (EoS) documentation may be hard to pinpoint, the key is that for new purchases and renewals, the standard offering is now the Advanced URL Filtering (A-URL) license, which includes all the original PAN-DB URL filtering capabilities. Active legacy URL filtering licenses are still supported until their existing term expires, but new sales and renewals are directed to the A-URL subscription.

Thank you for reply

I'm looking for official Palo Alto documentation on license renewal and new subscription methods, but I can't find any EoS-related information.

What's interesting is that the EoS Date for TP, DNS Security, and WF are included in the official documentation.

I'm not sure if the Palo Alto Docu team missed this or if they have some other mechanism.

As far as I know, there is no official document for EoS of PAN-DB (URL4).

On back days, salesforce (ordering system of PAN) suddenly stopped ordering URL4, and there is no announcement of EoS at that point.

Afterward, we recieved "localized official document" of EoS announcement which is for distributors.

According to that document, it describes...
"Effective November 1, 2021, all URL4 SKUs will be discontinued and consolidated into Advanced URL Filtering (hereinafter ADVURL)."
What I meant to you is that they are not using any phrase of "End of Sales" in this document. They are saying "Discontinued and consolidated".
*Note: I can find "EoS" phrase on other subscriptions on other localized official documents.

Even I'm not sure, this might be a reason for not listing URL4 on EoS page.

Hope this helps you.
