Regarding the End of Life for Broker VM

L0 Member

Is there an EOL for Broker VM?

The following URL contains information about the end-of-life for Palo Alto products, but it does not appear to include any mention of the Broker VM.

https://www.paloaltonetworks.com/services/support/end-of-life-announcements/end-of-life-summary

I searched for other documents as well, but I was unable to find any EOL information regarding BrokerVM.

Please tell me about the EOL for Broker VM.

Or, if not explicitly stated, does it follow the 9-month support cycle described at the URL below?

For Cortex XDR software products releases, the following End-of-Life policy applies:

  • Major feature releases will be supported for 9 months.
  • Critical environment releases will be supported for 24 months.
  • Support includes at Palo Alto Networks reasonable discretion technical support, minor feature releases, content updates, workarounds, and fixes for bugs.
  • A product must be covered by a support contract in order to receive support

*“Critical Environment Releases” means version releases for Software designed to be installed in sensitive and highly regulated environments. It contains minimal change over time to retain its stability. This release line will only include the most critical updates e.g. - only critical bug fixes and high-severity security issues.

Hi @Yasuo_Aoki

Please check the information on the current and old Broker VM releases.

Check the notifications at the notifications area in your tenant and subscribe to the release notes at the CSP so you can know new Broker releases.

We strongly recommend to be always on the last Broker VM release or at least the one before the last one

Hi, Eluis-san,

Thank you for responding to my question.

However, what I want to confirm is not the release status of the latest version, but rather the end-of-life (EOL) information for previously released versions.

For example, if the current latest version is 28.0.100, is there an EOL date for the major release two versions prior, 26.100.10 (release date: March 16, 2025)?

The release status of Broker VM can be checked at the URL below and other sources.

https://docs-cortex.paloaltonetworks.com/r/Cortex-XDR/Cortex-XDR-3.x-Release-Notes/Previous-Maintena...

The reason for checking the EOL date for each version is that when considering an upgrade from the currently used Broker VM (e.g., 23.0.35) to the latest version (e.g., 28.0.100), there are cases where the decision is based on factors like the approaching EOL date for 23.0.35. This serves as a basis for determining whether an upgrade is necessary, especially when services are functioning without issues on 23.0.35.

Alternatively, regarding the Broker VM, is it correct to understand that there are no settings such as end-of-support dates for each software version? If using Cortex XDR 3.1 or later, does this mean all versions (from 14.3.3 to the latest version 28.0.100) are supported, as stated in the URL above?
