[OVA] [HW-Version 13] Can't assign more than 3GB of RAM

Hello there,

We want to give Expedition a try and so far, it runs smooth. Features are good and everything works out of the box so far.

Except we ran into one issue, we downloaded the OVA (ExpeditionVM-1.1.10.ova), created a new VM for it and upgraded the hardware version from 12 to 13. The current issue now is, that we can't assign more than 3GB RAM to it.

Anyone encountered similar problems? I will gladly provide additional information if needed.

Best Regards

This seems to be a question related to ESXi, and I do not see a reason why you should have this limitation, besides the host only having this available RAM.

Acording to the docs, you should be able to assign terabytes of RAM with hardware version 13: https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-vSphere/6.7/com.vmware.vsphere.vm_admin.doc/GUID-789C3913-1053-485...

Thanks for the quick reply.

It was indeed an issue from ESXi (figured it out after working over it with our server guys). Hot adding memory was somehow restricted to 3GB (where ever that comes from anyway). A clean shutdown, lifting the restriction and clean boot solved this issue.
