Unable to upgrade Expedition (current version is 1.0.84) nor best practice tool

L2 Linker

Hello there,

I downloaded the VM from the Palo Alto live portal. I am unable to run the best practice tool (version 2.11). Reading the posts, I saw that it is recommended to upgrade to latest version. Hoever, I am unable to do so:

Reading package lists... Done
W: The repository 'https://conversionupdates.paloaltonetworks.com expedition-updates/ Release' does not have a Release file.
N: Data from such a repository can't be authenticated and is therefore potentially dangerous to use.
N: See apt-secure(8) manpage for repository creation and user configuration details.

I looked up information, and Tried different commands to bypass this, but does not work:

sudo apt -o "Acquire::AllowInsecureRepositories=true" -o "Acquire::AllowDowngradeToInsecureRepositories=true" update

Please advise how to fix the error above and how to upgrade to latest version since best practices does not work.

Hi, the threat Practice tab is still under development, you will find here some predefined reports that will be useful for you to have in your Panorama or firewall and from there you be able to select them and import into your config easily.

Just keep going and run the next command

sudo apt-get install expedition-beta

Thank you, for some reason I was able to update today (It told me that I was in the current version 1.0.84 a few days ago). Now, the sec best practice works.

I have other question regarding the threat Practice session on Security Best practice tab - whats the main idea of this? I dont see any information other than being populated (seems not to work but not sure):

threat.PNGPlease advise,

Thanks

SOLUTION:

>> There are 2 commands mentioned in Expedition tool to run i.e. "sudo apt-get update" and "sudo apt-get install expedition-beta"

>> Just run the 2nd command "sudo apt-get install expedition-beta" ignore the 1st command.

>>Later to update the BPA, run $sudo bash /var/www/html/OS/BPA/updateBPA306.sh
