Cloud-to-SOC Reference Implementation - GCP Edition

A self-provisioning Google Cloud Platform lab that generates real Cortex Cloud posture, runtime, and identity signals into #XSIAM cases within about an hour of setup. Partners spin up the lab in their own GCP environment as a presales proof surface - no PANW resource required to demonstrate the platform flow from cloud misconfiguration to SOC investigation.

What the lab covers

Five layers of intentional risk, correlated end-to-end:

  • Code and DevSecOps - exposed secret planted in VM metadata; ASPM signal
  • Cloud Posture and Identity - over-permissioned service account attached to a GCE VM; IAM misconfiguration; attack path analysis surfaces the identity-to-workload chain
  • Data Security - sensitive data classifications discovered in a GCS bucket; DSPM compliance signal
  • Runtime Behavior - GCE VM with process telemetry through XDR agent, outbound beacon to an external endpoint (mimics C2 traffic); causality chain captures process-to-network mapping
  • SOC - all four upstream signals correlate through XDM into a single #XSIAM case with SmartGrouping consolidation

Output: multiple alerts across the five layers collapse into one #XSIAM case. Identity signal plus exfiltration signal mapped as related evidence, not separate incidents. Same architectural pattern as the Cloud Kill Chain module in customer-facing workshops.

What you get

A deployable package with reproducible naming standard (ccs-flow prefix across every resource), so partners can rebuild deterministically. Includes:

  • Terraform automation for GCP resource provisioning
  • Configured XSIAM correlation rules and content pack
  • Runbook covering deploy, walkthrough, and teardown
  • Expected signal outputs at each layer for validation

Prerequisites

  • Own GCP environment with billing enabled (estimated demo run cost: five to ten dollars USD)
  • Existing #XSIAM tenant with #CortexCloud enabled
  • Intermediate skill level - GCP Console plus CLI familiarity
  • Approximately one hour to full end-to-end deployment
