How to determine the cause of a slow network

I notice that my network is slow but I don't know how to determine the cause of this slowness. Could someone tell me how to find out please?

Hi there,

'why is my network slow' is a question as old as time itself and sometimes tricky to diagnose. 

In no particular order you should consider the following questions:

Are traffic flows inside and outside of your network effected?

Is there commonality between slow traffic flows and paths across your network infrastructure?

Are all applications effected?

All users effected?

Have you QoS implemented on parts of your network?

Do you have interface monitoring configured across your network?
