PA-VM 10.2.5 EVE-NG not working - cant Login to CLI or GUI

L0 Member

Hello,

We have built an EVE-NG environment for testing purposes. Within this environment we would like to install a PA-VM. For this purpose we have organized a test license from Palo Alto.

After successful upload of the image and installation, the login does not work, neither in the GUI nor in the CLI. Unfortunately, no meaningful log appears either. Only the following error is displayed:

So far we have tested EVE-NG on a bare-metal and ESXi server, unfortunately both without success.

I have assigned the following hardware resources to the VM:

Is the error known? or is currently only the version PA-OS 8 supported in Eve-NG?

Thank you for your support!

Hi there,

Anecdotally I've had success running 10.0.2 and 11.0.1 KVM images running in EVE-NG I documented it here:

Running a Palo Alto 10.0.2 VM on EVE-NG – CS7 Networks

Palo Alto 11.0.1 VM on EVE-NG with initial configuration – CS7 Networks

...the only gotcha, which you have addressed is increasing the default amount of RAM stipulated on the EVE-NG device template.

cheers,

Seb.

Hi Seb.

thanks for the links. Thats was also my way to install.

But the vm not boot correct, they stucks in "vm" boot mode and never goes to PA-HDF or PA-VM, as it is described in the articles.

greetings

Dominik

Did you create the qcow2 image from converting a OVA file, or are you using a KVM image from the Palo Alto support site? I'd try the latter.

It is a test of my memory but I do recognise that or a very similar error message. Try deleting the existing nodes, create new ones and give them plenty of time to boot.

cheers,

Seb.
