Upgrade from Basic Threat Prevention to Advanced Threat Prevention

L2 Linker

Currently, two PA-320 peers are in HA configuration with Basic Threat Prevention license which is expiring in Feb 2026. I am going to buy ATP license in the upcoming renewal. Do I have to configure the ATP profiles from starch and bind those profiles with the security rules OR Basic Threat prevention profiles(such as AV, Vulnerability protection etc) would be seamlessly replaced by the ATP profiles upon new license activation ?

Thank you

Hello @Ajay358

you do not need to take any action and there is no need to reconfigure anything. After you activate the ATP license all your existing security profiles will resume operation with existing configuration. There were a few caveats in certain PAN-OS versions that were casing an issue with ATP license: What are the Licensing issues related to Advanced Threat Prevention in PAN-OS 10.2.0 and 10.1.4-h4 a.... Other than this license change should be seamless.

Kind Regards

Pavel
