If you're working in a healthcare environment you may have needed to allow unknown-tcp or were required to build a custom application to safely enable medical staff and patients using the Epic program to share Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
In the next few weeks we'll be releasing the 'Epic' application that will simplify safe enablement of the CF protocol used by Epic.
Rather than requiring a blanket cover for unknown-tcp which could potentially allow undesirable applications, App-ID will take care of layer7 inspection and ensure only the proper protocol is allowed to pass through your security policy.
The release will be staggered in two stages to allow for a transitional period and plenty of prep time to get everything set up and tested before going live with the new application.
The first stage is scheduled for the week of June 19th, 2017, so please take a look at and subscribe to this article for more information and updates: Release of the Epic App-ID
