International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the historical, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day is also observed in support of taking action against gender inequality around the world. This is the day to appreciate and advocate for women everywhere for their (often under-thanked) work and contribution in all facets of life.
Women in technology have already achieved a lot just by being here—coding, designing, thinking out of the box—and consistently performing even with the distraction that families, illness, and other responsibilities can bring. According to the most recent (ISC)² Cybersecurity Workforce Study, about 25 percent of cybersecurity professionals are women. In truth, the LIVEcommunity team is more like the other way around! So, in honor of International Women’s Day, let's introduce our community members to the women behind LIVEcommunity.
Cheryl has diverse experience in program management, customer experience, digital content and eCommerce. When she is not investing her time and passion into the LIVEcommunity, you will be sure to find her enjoying the sun and ocean air at her hometown beach, hanging out with her two children, or getting in a nine-hole round of golf.
Having strong female role models in my mom and sister, International Women's Day serves as a reminder that when you step out of your comfort zone, your positive impact on others can be massive.

Bolstered by the solid rock that is Babushka (her grandmother), Iryna yearned for academic and professional pursuits that would eventually take her far from home in Belarus.
Iryna’s curiosity and bright mind catapulted her into computer programming, a profession she finds immensely rewarding though still dominated by far too fewer women than men. By the numbers? Sometimes the disparity was as high as 500 men to 10 women. But the gender gap could not intimidate or dissuade Iryna. She completed an MS in Computer Science and Applied Physics, then went on to pursue studies in Java and JavaScript, as well as digital media and internet services.
If you like what you see on LIVEcommunity, you can thank Iryna. You might not find Iryna’s name sprinkled generously throughout the discussion forum, for her important role instead results in the quiet assurance of a pleasant, smooth user experience in our community.
Iryna's Motto:
Jerilyn is a writer, editor, and communications specialist who made the leap from journalism to tech in 2021. She graduated with her master's from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism a decade ago, and spent the following years working as a magazine editor in Denver, Colorado. A native to the American West, she has an endless appetite for spicy foods, outdoor recreation, and practicing Spanish as a second language.
Though she lived a nomadic lifestyle from mid-2019 until early 2022, Jerilyn is a little more grounded these days. You can often find her fully (OK fine, overly!) caffeinated at her home office in St. Petersburg, FL. When she's not editing or writing, you can catch her on the water, on horseback, or boarding a flight somewhere with just a little less humidity and a lot more elevation.
Some of her favorite role models include Queen Latifah, Gloria Steinem, Natasha Gardner, and her sister and mother.
Jenna was born and raised in San Jose, California. Being the first in her family to graduate from college, Jenna strives to be a role model for her younger cousins and show that anything is possible if you put your mind to it.
At Palo Alto Networks, she manages content and social media for LIVEcommunity. In her free time, you can find her exploring with her one-year-old Frenchie or hanging out with family and friends. Jenna’s favorite foods include sushi and Thai.
We are all inspired by the strong women around us and we can't wait to see what the future holds.
