In the world of cybersecurity, standing still is the same thing as moving backward. As the explosion of  all connected devices including managed IT, unmanaged and IoT/OT devices continues to blur the lines between the digital and physical worlds, our management tools must evolve to be faster, smarter, and more integrated.

That is why we evolved IoT Security into Device Security within the Strata Cloud Manager platform.

This is more than just a migration; it’s a total upgrade to your security operations. To help you prepare for the future, we’ve laid out everything you need to know about this transition and why moving to SCM is a major win for your team.

Planning Your Move

Efficiency comes from focus. To ensure we are delivering the most innovative features to our customers with best in class user experience, we are phasing out the legacy IoT Security Portal in favor of a unified platform.

  • All IoT Security capabilities have been migrated to Device Security within Strata Cloud Manager.
  • The legacy IoT Security Portal is scheduled to be officially shut down in August 2026.
  • We strongly encourage all customers to begin their transition to the Strata Cloud Manager interface today:
    • If you are using 3rd party IDP: Ensure that your SSO is configured for Strata Cloud Manager. Follow these steps
    • If you are using our public APIs: There is a new authorization and authentication process for Strata Cloud Manager. Follow these steps.

Why You’re Going to Love Strata Cloud Manager (SCM)

While change requires a bit of effort, SCM was designed to solve the tool fatigue that many security teams face. Here’s why moving from the standalone IoT Security Portal to SCM is a massive leap forward:

1. One Pane of Glass, Zero Friction

Gone are the days of jumping between different tabs and portals to manage your network and all your connected devices. SCM enables a unified solution for network security management and with Device Security you get aggregated visibility, risk assessment & prioritization and actionable recommendations for all your managed and unmanaged devices.

2. Exclusive Access to Innovation

We are pouring our latest R&D and AI-driven features exclusively into SCM. By making the switch now, you gain access to advanced workflows and visibility tools that aren't being added to the legacy IoT Security Portal. If you want the cutting edge of Palo Alto Networks' security, SCM is where it lives.

3. AI-Powered Proactive Management

SCM is the industry’s first AI-powered management platform. It doesn't just show you what is happening; it uses AIOps to predict and prevent misconfigurations and network downtime before they impact your environment. It turns your security team from reactive firefighters into proactive architects.

4. Total Management Flexibility

Whether you are running On-Premise Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFWs), Cloud-based firewalls, or a hybrid of both, SCM has you covered. Device Security in SCM is built to support both On-Prem and Cloud-based NGFW management platforms, giving you the flexibility to secure your  managed and unmanaged devices regardless of where your infrastructure lives.

5. Simplified Policy Consistency

Managing your connected devices shouldn't be a manual chore. Device Security with Strata Cloud Manager allows for simplified, consistent policy application across your entire enterprise leveraging Device-ID and IoT policy recommendations. These capabilities provide granular enforcement controls for network segmentation, reduces the risk of human error and ensures enforcement scalability based on device profiling and network behavior baselining.

FAQ

1. Will I lose any data during the transition from the IoT Security Portal?

No, all your data is maintained. The move to SCM is a change in the management interface, not a reset of your data.

2. Does SCM require a different license than what I currently have?

Your existing IoT Security subscription grants you access to Device Security with  Strata Cloud Manager Essentials. However, moving to SCM provides a path to upgrade to SCM Pro, which unlocks advanced AI-powered operations and deeper network insights.

3. Can I still use Panorama if I move my IoT management to SCM?

Yes, while your IoT Security dashboards/pages will move to Strata Cloud Manager interface, you can continue to manage your  NGFWs on-prem using Panorama.  The move to Strata Cloud Manager does not impact the management of your NGFWs via Panorama.

4. What happens if I don't switch by August 2026? In August 2026, the legacy IoT Security Portal will be decommissioned and will no longer be accessible. To avoid any disruption in visibility or management, we recommend completing your transition and API verification(if applicable) at least several months before the deadline.

Ready to get started?
