On June 2, 2026, Fuel User Group hosted Jose Manzano, with help moderating by Ahmad Alkhatib. as we learned about the Cloud NGFW service that is available within Microsoft Azure. During this event, Jose goes through the process of what lead to making CNGFW into the service that it is today and why it was developed in the first place - to replace the complexity and maintenance of doing this entire process manually. He shows some of the services that are handled by the CNGFW compared to both the standard Azure Firewall as well as the self-managed VM-Series firewall. We then get a summary of the overall deployment architecture of how Azure Virtual WANs work and then how licensing and activation are handled. After we see the pre-deployment steps that need to be done in your Azure environment, we then get to see screenshots of how the deployment of the CNGFW is done as well as how the management of the firewall is handled both in Azure and in Strata Cloud Manager (SCM). We end the event with Jose going through a recording of a deployment process so we get a step by step demonstration of how the process goes once all of the prerequisites are in place.
