Exception with Windows Environment Variable

L2 Linker

Dear Community,

Seeking for validation. I was under the impressions that we could create exception with the Windows environmental variables.

There's recent XDR alert says otherwise, the alert reappeared even after applied the exception. (With Windows environmental variables). However, the alerts no longer generate after modified the exception with wildcard instead of windows environmental variables.

Questions:

- Is there a change? I mean, was it support before and now it doesn't? Or

- It was always not supported. 🙂

Thank you.

Hello @Antony_Chan ,

Thank you for writing to Live Community.

We do support Environment Variable exclusion. If you enter "echo %USERPROFILE%" does it return "C:\Users\<username>?" If they match, then you have a bug with Cortex XDR agent, which should go to Support. If not, your variable has to be adjusted.

Hope this helps.

Hello @aspatil,

The support case is still on going, but I'm getting the response from support so far is Windows Environmental variable is not supported.

I'm wondering whether you have any documentation that could share with me? (Which indicate the Windows Environmental Variable is supported).

@neelrohit, Any thought on this?
