L2 Linker

under CLI , I tried to upgrade expedition from 1.1.42 to latest version but upgrade seems failed.  just wondering if this is server related issue.

First, make sure you are not going to do an upgrade (which would update all VM packages, breaking dependencies) but you are going to do an "update" of the selected packages.

Second, make sure that you execute a:

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install expedition-beta

You won't require updating rabbitmq, therefore it should not be an issue. However, if you do not reach the internet with your Expedition, you won't be able to update the expedition-beta package that is provided in the  https://conversionupdates.paloaltonetworks.com/expedition-updates/Packages repository.

I tried but not works

I tried below seems upgrade successful.

sudo apt-get install expedition-beta expeditionml-dependencies-beta

Sorry, I am not understanding completely what you mean.

Did you manage to "update" via the commands?

under expedition CLI, used 2 command below, I am not able to upgrade the expedition

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install expedition-beta

use following cli, upgrade expedition successful

sudo apt-get install expedition-beta expeditionml-dependencies-beta

I keep not understanding what you mean

"use following cli, upgrade expedition successful

sudo apt-get install expedition-beta expeditionml-dependencies-beta"

Therefore, you managed to update. To be honest, you just executed one of the commands that I gave you, just that you also requested updating the dependencies module for Spark.

One more thing, remember we DO NOT upgrade Expedition, but update packages. There is a big difference as upgrading the system will break dependencies and you won't be able to continue using Expedition

thank you for the info, I am attach the first error message

expedition-beta is already the newest version (1.1.42).

Try cleaning your list of available packages:

sudo rm -rf /var/lib/apt/lists/*
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get update

And later install the packages once having updated lists

sudo apt-get install expedition-beta expeditionml-dependencies-beta

The reason is quite simple:

So what ist the answer of Palo AltoNetworks?

I just tested the installation process for Python3.7, and adding the repository and calling the installation process does work to install Python3.7

I am referring to the update package located in /var/www/html/OS/BPA/updateBPA306.sh

The easiest way, when you are running an older OVA version:

sudo add-apt-repository -r ppa:jonathonf/python-3.6
sudo bash /var/www/html/OS/BPA/updateBPA306.sh

Afterwards it worked.

When you have a look at the file  updateBPA306.sh you'll see, they removed the python-3.6 ppa and added a ppa for Python-3.7.

#sudo add-apt-repository ppa:jonathonf/python-3.6 -y
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:deadsnakes/ppa -y

 Hope this helps.

SOLUTION:

>> There are 2 commands mentioned in Expedition tool to run i.e. "sudo apt-get update" and "sudo apt-get install expedition-beta"

>> Just run the 2nd command "sudo apt-get install expedition-beta" ignore the 1st command.

>>Later to update the BPA, run $sudo bash /var/www/html/OS/BPA/updateBPA306.sh
