Alarm on device

Hi,

     We've did a little bit of testing on Palo Alto device and kind of want to know something about Alarm that we still can't produce the issues such as

               - At what temperature or percent that device will generate an Alarm

               - At what percent of CPU usage that device will generate an Alarm (both management plane and dataplane)

               - At what percent of Memory used that device will generate an Alarm

               - At what percent of Session in used that device will generate an Alarm

               - Alarm for FAN Fail

     or in some of this situation there are not an alarm generate? and we can't change it or set it right? I've tried to find it but still can't find it.

     Can you please provide us and example of those alarm in case you have it so we have it on reference for admin who take care of the device

Here is the image below explaining the Alarm is enabled for the specific log database when they exceed the percentage set.

Here it is 90 default, this value can be surely altered @ Device tab > Alarms

For temperature, if they exceed the device range of accepted temperature per the particular hardware guide then we should see an alarm.

For Fan failure, if the fan fails an alarm is generated.

This can be verified to see,

" show system state | match chassis"

Explains if Alarm is true if something is failed.

        thank for your reply. Anyway, 90% that is suppose to be percentage of quota reach on log DB right? But if in case that CPU reach 90% or Temperature high, Will device generate an Alarm to notify administrator? or it just alerting by LED in front panels only. We want to know the range of accepted temperature and stuff like that

       I've tried to find a document related to this issues but still can't find one.

Look for Hardware guides and select for your platform.

LED ALARM: Red = There is a hardware failure, which may include power supply detected  but not working, fan failure, Hard drive failure, HA failover, or  temperature above high temperature threshold.

If its Off then all is good.

> Yes 90% is the value of the total percentage for X database ( where X can be Traffic, threat and so on )

> For CPU reaching 90% I do not remember any alarm but we have other logs to look for information.

> For Temperature: LED indication is the best to look for.

Operating temperature range 0° to 40° C.

Storage temperature range -20° to 70° C.

Humidity 5% to 90% non-condensing.

System air flow Side to side.
