Any pitfalls upgrading VM-100 to 9.0?

L3 Networker

Hi,

I have a VM-100 running the latest v8 under VMWare ESX 6.7.

Should I expect any problems upgrading to v9?

I have browsed the docs and found no red lights, but I just want to ask here in case I have overlooked something...

regards Tor

@LCMember4427,

Really depends on what you are utilizing the VM-100 for, and what featureset you are actually using. In general, I would say that unless this is a test/dev/lab environment I would 100% recommend against installing 9.0 unless your business is in need of one of the features that were added in 9.0.

The only person who can answer this question is you. Review the known issues HERE and determine if any of them will cause issues in your environment and if the risk of running into non-documented bugs is worth gaining the features available in 9.0.

BPry offers some good advice, if you don't need the features it's often better not to upgrade. Having said that though, I've been running 9.0 for a while without issue, however, the configuration on the firewall is very simple, straightforward APP-ID enabled firewall policy.
