Botnet reporting error command failed with no output

L3 Networker

Hi All,

Did a replacement of a PA FW 5260 (pan-os 10.1.x) with a 5420 (pan-os 10.2.7)

everything is working as expected.. however not able to view any botnet reports.

botnet config in place under monitor\botnet\configuration.

licenses are in place and updates up to date.

in URL logs i can see logs for malware categories and blocked as expected.

when i go to the monitor tab, select botnet, i get a pop message saying 'command failed with no output'

if i view the botnet.log file i see the following:

FW01(active)> less mp-log botnet.log
......
2024/01/08 02:13:02 get daily log
2024/01/08 02:13:03 data log collection done
2024/01/08 02:13:07 threat log collection done
2024/01/08 02:13:10 url log collection done
2024/01/08 02:13:10 update_progress: progress_file is empty: . Return.
2024/01/08 02:13:10 readThreat: filenames: ['/opt/panlogs/botnet//20240107/threat.log']
2024/01/08 02:13:11 readData: filenames: ['/opt/panlogs/botnet//20240107/data.log']
2024/01/08 02:13:11 readUrl: filenames: ['/opt/panlogs/botnet//20240107/url.log']
2024/01/08 02:13:11 readTraffic: filenames: ['/opt/panlogs/botnet//20240107/traffic.log']
2024/01/08 02:13:11 load logs complete...
2024/01/08 02:13:11 update_progress: progress_file is empty: . Return.
2024/01/08 02:13:11 update_progress: progress_file is empty: . Return.

so it seems PA is unable to correlate these malware logs into the botnet report.

any ideas?

thanks in adv

Thanks BPry,

yes saw this yesterday also in the release notes for 11.0.3 - however not sure to upgrade to 11.0.3 as it is not a preferred release as yet and seems to have issues with memory leaks also hence want to avoid 11.0.3 for now..

and 11.0.2-h2 is the preferred release atm but not seem resolved in here also. so a bit stuck between a rock and a hard place atm.

another option would be to downgrade to 10.1.x possibly..

thanks
