Decrypt Gmail messages

L0 Member

Hello All,

Newby question here, is it possible to decrypt Gmail messages and actually see what a client sent via gmail? Some times there are investigations where we need to find out if an email was sent out from someone internally. We only receive the email that was shared or spammed to corporate users.

If this is possible can you please share how to configure the palo to see this. If this is not possible is there any add on or something that will help us.

Thanks

@palmanza,

This isn't something that a firewall is designed to do. If your organization uses Gmail they should be using Google Workspace which will allow the use of the Security Center to view any message that an employee under your organization sends/receives paired with Google Vault for message archival and eDiscovery.

In the event that you don't actively use Gmail in your organization and this is a common issue just block access while connected to your network and be done with it. You can only do so much if someone is using personal email communication at the workplace to do something that warrants investigation, and if it becomes an issue that "so much" becomes blocking access to all personal email service providers.
