HA configuration back to a Cisco Nexus switch, question about port-channels

L0 Member

Our current environment has two PA-850s connecting to two Cisco Nexus switches.  Each PA-850 has a fiber connection to each Nexus.  The Nexus has a configuration of a single port-channel covering all four fiber links.  Is this how it should be done, or should I have a port-channel for PA-3220 (1) and another port-channel for PA-3220 (2)?

Current

PA (1) Eth1/9  -->  Nexus (1) Eth1/9

PA (1) Eth1/10 -->  Nexus (2) Eth1/10

PA (2) Eth1/9  -->  Nexus (2) Eth1/9

PA (2) Eth1/10 -->  Nexus (1) Eth1/10

Thank you,

Jeff

Thank you for the post @jjohnsona

Based on what you have described, I would avoid having a single port channel with 4 links. You should create 2 port channels instead. Since you have 2 fiber cables from each PA to each Nexus, you can create 2x vPC on Nexus side (one port-channel for each PA) or re-cable the connection and have 2 fiber cables from PA1 to Nexus 1 (port channel 1) and 2 fiber cables from PA2 to Nexus 2 (port channel 2).

Kind Regards

Pavel
