I have a user that is abusing their privileges and would like to block services internally. A user wished to have the Dish Network application installed on their laptop to use while traveling. There has been reports that the use was using the application in the office while on the network. I wish to block services to this application while on the internal network. I currently have Palo Alto firewalls on the network. How do i block this service from my internal network?

Did you know you can request applications through the Palo Alto Networks 'Submit an Application' page
Please visit https://researchcenter.paloaltonetworks.com/submit-an-application/ and submit Dish for review and we will do our best to write an app for that

Download the same app and attempt to identify any traffic that it's going to that is specific to that application and block it. Honestly though someone should probably communicate that this isn't in line with company policy and tell him to stop, this is one of those personnel issues.

Hello,
While I dont know what application it uses, I did see connections to myip.sling.com.
Hope that helps.

Or look at the user's url log and find and block the ability to log in to Dish.
If logging in on the site, block:
https://my.dish.com/customercare/usermanagement/prepLogon.do
https://www.mydish.com/welcome
or for dishanywhere:
https://identity1.dishnetwork.com/saml/module.php/sociallogin/login.php

Yes, *.sling.com also. That allows connections to internet-connected DVRs.
